About Arrhythmia Alliance Japan.

Welcome to Arrhythmia Alliance, Japan

About Arrhythmia Alliance, Japan (AAJ)

Arrhythmia Alliance, Japan is a sister organization of Arrhythmia Alliance which is an influential international organization in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2009, we have been committed to introducing to Japan the philosophy of Arrhythmia Alliance to bring together individuals, patient groups, charities, professional medical groups and industry allies in order to raise awareness of cardiac arrhythmias and to promote timely and effective diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias leading to an improved quality of life.

About Arrhythmia Alliance in the UK (AAUK)

AAUK was established in 2004 by Trudie Lobban, whose daughter has STRAS (Syncope Trust and Reflex Anoxic Seizures), in order to help patients suffering from arrhythmias and to promote member charities, healthcare professionals, commissioners and their allies. AAUK has now become a registered organization with an annual budget of £350,000 and has co-allied branches all over the world. Below is a list of AAUK’s objectives:

  • To advance the concerns and needs of all our members
  • To develop the knowledge and skill base of medical professionals and professions associated with medicine
  • To cultivate multi-center and multi-disciplinary research
  • To prevent sudden cardiac death in vulnerable groups
  • To promote the value and need for cardiac pacing, implantable defibrillators, catheter ablation, and other treatments for arrhythmias
  • To prevent misdiagnosis in patients suffering from arrhythmia and transient loss of consciousness (T-LOC)
  • To assess and quantify unmet needs amongst those affected by arrhythmia
  • To promote centers of excellence for arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment
  • To secure better care, leading to a better quality of life, for individuals with arrhythmia

Necessity of AAJ in Japanese Society

Heart diseases such as arrhythmia become critical healthcare issues not only in the UK, but also in Japan. Cardiac arrhythmia is where the heart beats too fast, too slow, or irregularly and it covers a range of conditions from a transient loss of consciousness (T-LOC) and Reflex Anoxic Seizures, to Cardiomyopathy and Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. However, symptoms are sometimes overlooked. Thus, it is essential for us to raise awareness and call for people to listen to their heart rhythm more carefully.

Launching this website coincides with the upcoming ArrhythmiA Awareness Week 2009 (AAAW 2009) which derives from this sense of mission. By translating event information and free awareness packs (posters and leaflets on AAAW 2009), we help and encourage public activists and patient leaders to hold awareness events during the week to raise global awareness.

About AAJ’s Concept

Inheriting its principles and objectives as explained above, we aim to go further. First, AAJ will focus inclusively on heart disease, which is one of the biggest killers in the country. Secondly, we will work to improve the medical circumstances and policies related to heart disease by uniting patient groups, creating networks and hosting enlightening symposiums.
